INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Excel is a powerful spreadsheet that is easy to use and allows you to store, manipulate, analyze and visualize data. It also supports databases, graphics and presentation features. It is a powerful research tool that needs a minimum of teaching. It not only makes statistics enjoyable; it also brings life to numerical work.

This course gives practical experience in the use of Microsoft Excel for data summary, presentation and for other basic statistical work. It concentrates on areas where Excel really can excel, such as array functions. We look at data entry and management, pivot tables, and graphics

Practitioners in the area of Agriculture extension who include: NGO extension workers, National and County government employers from various ministries and departments and government authorities directly and indirectly involved in Agriculture extension work, Policymakers and officials from the private sector and farmers amongst others

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to turn their general Excel capabilities into skills in the use of Excel for data processing and basic statistical applications.

  • Learning formula fundamentals
  • Creating formulas and their automatic application
  • Using references & named ranges

Module 2:

  • Using special text functions for Agriculture extension-related applications
  • Using logical functions to get desirable results

Module 3:

  • Using pivot tables and charts
  • Create a PivotTable Framework
  • Good statistical graphics
  • Conditional operations and array functions
  • Data summary and analysis; pros and cons of the Analysis Toolpak

Module 4:

  • Lookup function for Agriculture extension usage

Module 5:

  • Protecting your data forms from invalid data entry
  • Recording MACROS & automating Work

Module 6:

  • Linking several worksheets
  • Combining several workbooks to create a summary

Module 7:

  • Securing and reviewing your worksheet
  • Tracking changes and comments
  • Hiding and protecting formulas

Lesson 8:

  • Mini Project and Recap

CERTIFICATION

  • Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued with a Macskills Training and Development Institute Certificate
