Embedding Rights in Action: Human Rights-Based Approach to Development Training Course

INTRODUCTION

The Human Rights-Based Approach to Development (HRBA) provides a powerful framework for ensuring that development initiatives are grounded in international human rights standards and principles. Our comprehensive HRBA to Development Training Course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to integrate human rights into all stages of the development process, from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation. By focusing on the rights holders and their entitlements, and the duty bearers and their obligations, this approach aims to achieve sustainable development outcomes that are equitable, just, and participatory, ultimately empowering individuals and communities to claim their rights and improve their lives.

Designed for development practitioners, government officials, NGO staff, and human rights advocates, this training addresses the critical need to move beyond traditional development models and embrace approaches that prioritize human dignity and equality. Participants will learn how to analyze power imbalances, promote participation and inclusion, ensure accountability, and apply the principles of non-discrimination and equality in their work. By mastering the HRBA, graduates will be able to design and implement development programs that are not only effective in achieving their goals but also contribute to the realization of human rights, fostering sustainable and transformative change.
