Local Ownership and Community-Led Peacebuilding Training Course
Introduction
Sustainable peace is not imposed from the outside; it is built from within, driven by the agency, wisdom, and resources of local communities themselves. This 5-day training course on Local Ownership and Community-Led Peacebuilding delves into the foundational principles and practical strategies for empowering local actors to lead, design, and implement their own peace processes. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to shift power dynamics, foster genuine partnerships, and leverage indigenous knowledge and capacities to create durable peace that is truly rooted in the needs and aspirations of affected populations.
This intensive program is designed for peacebuilding practitioners, humanitarian and development professionals, local and international NGO staff, government officials, and donors committed to transforming their engagement in conflict-affected regions. It will equip attendees with the tools to critically assess existing power structures, develop participatory methodologies, and advocate for funding and policies that genuinely support local leadership. By championing local ownership, this course aims to cultivate more effective, legitimate, and sustainable peacebuilding initiatives that resonate deeply with the communities they serve.
