COURSE MODULES

Module 1: International Legal Framework for Refugee and IDP Protection:

  • Introduction to international refugee law, including the 1951 Refugee Convention.
  • Understanding the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement.
  • Exploring relevant human rights law and its application to displaced populations.
  • Examining the roles and responsibilities of states and international organizations.
  • Analyzing the legal status and rights of refugees, asylum seekers, and IDPs.

Module 2: Conducting Protection Assessments:

  • Understanding the purpose and principles of protection assessments.
  • Identifying key protection risks and vulnerabilities faced by displaced populations.
  • Utilizing different methodologies for collecting and analyzing protection data.
  • Engaging with displaced communities to understand their perspectives and needs.
  • Developing protection strategies based on assessment findings.

Module 3: Child Protection in Forced Displacement:

  • Understanding the specific risks and vulnerabilities faced by children in displacement.
  • Applying principles of child protection in humanitarian settings.
  • Addressing issues such as child marriage, child labor, and recruitment into armed forces.
  • Implementing child-friendly spaces and psychosocial support programs.

Module 4: Preventing and Responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV):

  • Understanding the different forms and prevalence of GBV affecting displaced populations.
  • Identifying risk factors and vulnerabilities to GBV in displacement settings.

  • Establishing safe referral pathways and providing survivor-centered support.

Module 5: Housing, Land, and Property (HLP) Rights of Refugees and IDPs:

  • Understanding the importance of HLP rights for the protection and well-being of displaced populations.
  • Identifying HLP issues arising in displacement contexts, including forced evictions and property restitution.
  • Applying legal frameworks and principles related to HLP rights.
  • Developing strategies to address HLP disputes and ensure secure tenure.

Module 6: Case Management and Individual Protection:

CERTIFICATION
