Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Training Course
Introduction
Effective and sustainable peace in post-conflict environments hinges critically on the successful transition of ex-combatants from armed groups back into civilian life. This 5-day training course on Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) provides an in-depth understanding of the complex processes involved in collecting weapons, demobilizing armed personnel, and supporting their successful reintegration into society. Participants will gain comprehensive insights into the strategic, operational, and practical considerations necessary to design, implement, and manage DDR programs that contribute to stability, security, and long-term peacebuilding in conflict-affected regions.
This intensive program is designed for peacebuilding practitioners, military and police personnel, humanitarian and development professionals, government officials, and civil society actors working in or preparing for roles in post-conflict settings. It will equip attendees with the knowledge to navigate the sensitive issues of security, political buy-in, economic reintegration, and psychosocial support for ex-combatants, emphasizing the critical importance of a holistic and inclusive approach.
