Insider Mediators and Local Dialogue Mechanisms Training Course

Introduction

In numerous conflicts worldwide, the most effective and sustainable peace processes are often facilitated by individuals deeply embedded within the affected communities—known as insider mediators—who possess unique cultural understanding, trust, and legitimacy. This 5-day training course on Insider Mediators and Local Dialogue Mechanisms provides an in-depth exploration of the critical role played by these unsung heroes of peacebuilding and the traditional or community-led approaches they employ. Participants will gain comprehensive insights into identifying, supporting, and collaborating with insider mediators and leveraging existing local dialogue structures to transform conflicts from within, fostering genuine and context-specific peace.

This intensive program is designed for peacebuilding practitioners, local and international NGO staff, community leaders, traditional and religious authorities, youth and women's advocates, and development professionals working in conflict-affected regions. It will equip attendees with methodologies for assessing local conflict dynamics through an insider lens, facilitating culturally appropriate dialogue, and building the capacities of local peace actors.
